About this event

Once you have your qualitative data, there are a vast array of options to analyse and explore it, helping you create structures, and identify trends and themes, while still preserving the richness of the data. This online session with Dr Daniel Turner will give an overview of many popular analytical and coding methods, such as framework analysis, grounded theory, IPA, thematic analysis, and structural approaches like open and axial coding. It will also discuss the importance of reflexive writing, comments and memos.

Additionally, Dr Turner will provide introductory training on a qualitative data analysis tool called Quirkos that can help with this process. This training will cover importing sources of text data, such as transcripts and literature, and creating codes, themes and memos. It will also look at ways to do comparative analysis, and export options which can help with writing up results and quickly finding quotes.

This event is only open to students within the School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh.
